PRECIOUS STONES

Gilt Theory works primarily with lab-grown stones, chosen for their precision and consistency. They share the same chemical and optical structure as natural diamonds, offering identical brilliance with greater clarity in sourcing and grading.

Colored diamonds especially benefit from this approach. They occur rarely in the earth and often with unpredictable saturation. Lab-grown diamonds allow us to offer vivid color at its highest grade.

On select pieces, we use natural gemstones — when the natural version has a quality that lab can't replicate. Some stones carry something in their irregularity, their origin, their particular character that matters to the design.

Every diamond we select is evaluated for proportion, symmetry, and the way it handles light.

Gemstones are chosen for what they are. You'll always know which you're buying and why.

THE WHOLE PIECE DOES THE WORK

A stone is not a piece of jewelry. Setting, proportion, metal weight, chain gauge, orientation — these are the decisions that determine whether something is worth wearing every day for twenty years or only on the right occasion.

At Gilt Theory, the stone earns its place. It doesn't carry the piece alone.

10K GOLD

10K gold contains 41.7% pure gold, fortified with a higher percentage of strengthening metals. This makes it one of the most durable alloys used in fine jewelry – resistant to bending, scratching, and the softness higher karats naturally develop. Its color is subtly lighter and more understated, offering a quiet, contemporary warmth rather than a saturated shine. Because of its resilience, 10K is ideal for thinner bands, pinky rings, and pieces worn daily.

It allows for flexibility without sacrificing intention or longevity.

14K GOLD

14K gold is composed of 58.5% pure gold, giving it a richer tone while maintaining excellent everyday strength. It is the modern standard for fine jewelry – warm in color, balanced in durability, and dependable for securing diamonds.

We use 14K when we want a piece to feel substantial yet wearable – settings that require structure and bands that hold their shape.

18K GOLD

18K gold contains 75% pure gold, creating a deeper, more saturated color with a luxurious softness. Its higher purity gives it a distinct glow, though it is more susceptible to marking.

We offer 18K for clients who prefer the expressive warmth of high-karat gold and embrace the gentle patina it develops with wear.
